Sebuah SMS tak terduga saat sedang mengikuti visite supervisor di ICU. Hari itu, kira-kira seminggu sebelum baksos.

Seperti tahun-tahun sebelumnya, KKMK mengadakan acara bakti sosial kesehatan daerah. Selain mengadakan baksos dalam kota Makassar, sudah menjadi agenda tahunan KKMK untuk mengadakan baksos daerah. Tahun 2008, baksos diadakan di Toraja. Tahun berikutnya diadakan di Lamasi dan tahun ini baksos daerah di Messawa.

Rombongan kecil kami berjumlah sekitar 40an orang berangkat dari gereja Kare pagi hari tanggal 21 Juli dengan menumpang di 3 bis. Makassar – Maros – Pangkep – Barru – Pare –pare – Pinrang – Polewali dan akhirnya sampai di Mamasa. (tolong diedit kalau salah).

Mortalitas maternal didefenisikan sebagai kematian seorang wanita dalam masa kehamilan, melahirkan atau hingga 42 hari setelah melahirkan. Kematian ini merupakan salah satu masalah utama system kesehatan di seluruh dunia. Penurunan angka kematian maternal merupakan salah satu dari delapan tujuan dari Millenium Development Goal [MDG 5].
